Metro District’s Driving Force
The Metro District Community Collaboration (MDCC) 501(c)(3) non-profit is a dedicated
partnership bringing together area businesses, property owners and residents to foster a vibrant,
connected community in the former Metrocenter Mall area. The MDCC is focused on enhancing the
quality of life for residents and visitors by improving public safety, marketing and promoting the district, and fostering community investments. Through collaborative efforts, we align resources and initiatives to ensure that the Metro District remains a thriving and inclusive environment that reflects the collective aspirations of area residents.

Honoring Our History
The Metro District Community Collaboration (MDCC) is revitalizing an area once anchored by the
historic Metrocenter Mall—an iconic destination that held a special place in Phoenix’s heart. For
decades, Metrocenter was more than just a shopping center; it was a vibrant community hub where
families gathered and memories were made. However, like many once-thriving enclosed malls, it faced challenges over time.
Now, through a dynamic partnership between the City of Phoenix and Concord Wilshire, the MDCC is
committed to restoring the Metro District’s status as a premier regional destination. This initiative brings together local businesses, property owners, and residents to renew the area’s energy and significance, creating a thriving, connected community that honors its storied past while embracing a future of innovation and growth.
Fun Fact: ‘Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure’ (1989) was filmed there, and scenes were also shot at
nearby Castle’s N’ Coasters amusement park.
